The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Mai Mala Buni, on his appointment as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Committee on Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu inaugurated the Committee on Wednesday in Lagos as part of efforts to strengthen internal cohesion within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The high-powered committee comprises serving governors, members of the Federal Executive Council, and other key party stakeholders. Governor Mai Mala Buni chairs the committee, while a former APC National Legal Adviser, Mr. Muiz Banire, serves as Member/Secretary.
Other members of the committee include Senator Adamu Aliero; the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq; the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma; and Governors Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Bassey Otu (Cross River), Abiodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), and Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta).

Also on the committee are Governors Uba Sani (Kaduna) and Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers); the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; and former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.
In a statement issued by his Director of Media and Communications, Mr. Lanre Oloyede, Hon. Abba Isa described Governor Buni’s appointment as a clear demonstration of the confidence President Tinubu has in his leadership capacity and political experience.
He noted that Governor Buni deserved the appointment in view of his competence, proven leadership, and long-standing record as a committed party man and unifier.
Hon. Abba Isa recalled that Governor Buni had previously demonstrated exceptional conflict-management skills during his tenure as Chairman of the APC Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, when the party faced intense internal crises in the build-up to the 2023 general elections.
According to him, Governor Buni successfully reconciled aggrieved members and stabilized the party, a process that contributed significantly to the APC’s victory at the polls.
“I have no doubt that His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, will bring the same wealth of experience, maturity, and dedication to this new assignment, and I am confident that he will discharge his responsibilities with utmost commitment and effectiveness,” Hon. Abba Isa stated
