Book Launch: The Progressive Institute DG, Dr. Lanre Adebayo to Review “The New Nigeria”

By Lanre Oloyede

The Director-General of the The Progressive Institute (TPI), Dr. Lanre Adebayo, has been confirmed as the official reviewer for the forthcoming launch of the book “The New Nigeria – Compliments to a Game-Changer.”

The high-profile event is scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Dr. Adebayo’s role was announced following a courtesy visit by members of the Technical Working Committee to his office in Abuja.

The delegation was led by the book author, His Lordship Bishop (Dr) Joseph Aunde Vambe, alongside Rev. Bishop Emmanuel Afolabi and Mr. Lanre Oloyede, who represented the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities.

During the visit, Dr. Adebayo formally accepted the invitation to serve as the book reviewer.

He commended the initiative by the International Christian Organization for Sustainable Development, ICOSD in collaboration with Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, OSSAP-SNEO, noting that faith-based institutions must increasingly channel their influence toward nation-building efforts.

According to him, religious organizations have a critical role to play in redirecting the energy of young people toward productive ventures rather than divisive engagements.

He described the book project as timely and impactful, pledging his full support while accepting to review the publication.

The 700-page book, authored by Dr. Joseph Aunde Vambe, with a foreword by Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, provides a comprehensive account of the reforms, policies, and leadership direction of Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The publication is dedicated to the President and seeks to document what its promoters describe as a transformative phase in Nigeria’s governance.

Beyond the book presentation, the event will also feature an empowerment initiative targeted at Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), aligning with the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance.

Organisers disclosed that proceeds from the launch and subsequent sales of the book would be deployed to fund empowerment programmes for PWDs across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The initiative, driven by ICOSD in partnership with OSSAP-SNEO, is part of broader efforts to strengthen collaboration with Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), civil society organisations, and development partners in advancing disability inclusion nationwide.

A number of prominent dignitaries are expected at the event, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu as Guests of Honour.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Mohammed Abba Isa, will serve as Chairman Technical Working Committee.

Also expected are the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, who will serve as Chairman of the Day, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, as Chief Host.

Other notable personalities billed for the event include the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, business magnates Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu, as well as the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, among other distinguished guests.

The organisers say the event will not only celebrate literary excellence but also serve as a platform to advance inclusive development and national dialogue on Nigeria’s future trajectory.
