In a landmark move to enhance accessibility and inclusivity in Nigeria’s built environment, the Association of Accessibility Professionals (AAP, Nigeria) has established a strategic partnership with the Nigeria Institute of Building (NIoB), FCT Abuja Chapter.
The collaboration, announced during a courtesy visit, focused on advancing inclusive and sustainable urban development, emphasizing the need for accessible infrastructure and compliance with global accessibility standards.
Key Outcomes of the Partnership:
1. Awareness Campaigns: Both organizations agreed to jointly conduct awareness initiatives on the provisions of accessibility laws and regulations.
2. Specialized Training: Plans were made to introduce professional training programs aimed at promoting expertise in accessibility design and construction.
3. Promotion of Accessible Buildings: A commitment to advocate for and facilitate the construction of universally accessible buildings across Nigeria.
4. Committee Involvement: AAP, Nigeria offered increased representation to NIoB on its management and Building Committee to further the cause of inclusivity.
