SSAP Hon. Abba Isa engages Mr. President on better life for Persons with Disabilities

In furtherance of plans and programmes towards realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the current administration, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa today, Wednesday February 14, 2024 had a strategic engagement with the Chief of Staff to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, on creating better life for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria.

The strategic meeting between the two top aides of the President, which held behind closed door at the Aso Rock Villa, centred around how to enhance the livelihood of Persons With Disabilities and provision of palliatives to improve their welfare.

The two presidential aides, who are staunch advocates and champions of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, also discussed issues on how to scale up the Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises (MSME) of PWDs, as well as how to achieve inclusion of PWDs in governance at all levels and stratas in line with the strong desire and dream of Mr President to see every segment of the society well catered to and accommodated in his administration.

All these and more were discussed and solutions proferred to them.

Emerging from the meeting, the SSAP urged all members of the disability community to be remain diligent, productive and patient as development strides are in the offing for them.

Recall that in his determination to ensure that all segments of the society are adequately catered to within the ambit of the Renewed Hope Agenda of his administration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in November 2023, appointed Hon Mohammed Abba Isa as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities.

The President mandated him to create avenues of opportunities for inclusion of disability requirements and perspectives in the programs and plans of Federal government Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in order to realize total inclusive governance.

President Tinubu further mandated Hon. Abba Isa to liaise with Subnational authorities to formulate disability-friendly policies and environmental conditions for the betterment of the lives of PWDs in Nigeria.
