
… Urges Him to Make Political Inclusion a Priority

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Honorable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Professor Nentawe Goshe Yilwatda, on his emergence as the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement signed by his Director of Media and Communications, Mr. Lanre Oloyede, Hon. Abba Isa described Prof. Yilwatda’s emergence as a well-deserved recognition of his exceptional leadership, integrity, and long-standing commitment to national development.
He noted that Prof. Yilwatda’s performance at the helm of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction laid a strong foundation for inclusive development, particularly with respect to Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
“His unwavering support for disability inclusion during his time as Minister has not gone unnoticed. His dedication to uplifting the marginalized aligns perfectly with the vision of the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Hon. Abba Isa stated.
While congratulating the new APC National Chairman, the Presidential Aide urged him to prioritize political inclusion in his new role by dismantling barriers that hinder the participation of Persons With Disabilities in politics and governance.
“As you assume the mantle of leadership of our great party at such a strategic time, building towards the 2027 general elections, I urge you to make political inclusion a core agenda. Ensure that no capable Nigerian is left behind, especially those living with disabilities who aspire to serve,” Abba Isa said.
He further assured the new Chairman of his office’s readiness to partner with the APC leadership to ensure inclusive policies and practices are entrenched within the party structure.
“My office is ever ready to work with you, providing the necessary expertise, consultation, and support to advance a more inclusive and equitable political landscape for all,” the statement read.
Born on August 8, 1968, in Dungung, Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State, Prof. Yilwatda is the son of the late Reverend and Mrs. Toma Yilwatda.
He holds a B.Sc. in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi (1992), a Master’s degree from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and a PhD in Digital Systems Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
With over 29 years of experience, Prof. Yilwatda has served as a university lecturer, ICT director, and consultant for various international development organizations.
He was Resident Electoral Commissioner in Benue State (2017–2021) and the APC governorship candidate for Plateau State in the 2023 elections.
Prior to his emergence as APC National Chairman on July 24, 2025, he served as the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction.
Prof. Yilwatda also played a pivotal role as State Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organization during the 2023 general elections. His wealth of experience and dedication to service continue to inspire confidence across party lines.
