National Executive of the Albinism Association of Nigeria (AAN) has presented the revised National Albinism Policy to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa.

The AAN Executive led by its National President, Mrs Bisi Bamishe made the presentation on Tuesday when the team paid a courtesy visit to the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities in Abuja.

According to Mrs Bamishe, the objective of the visit was to seek strategic partnership and collaboration with the office of the SSAP on areas that will bring development to the albinism and disability community in general.

As part of their engagement with the Presidential aide, the AAN requested that the Albinism cluster be included and involved in any program or activities emanating from the office of the SSAP.

They pleaded with the Senior Presidential aide to plead with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to, on behalf of the millions of members of the Albinism Community in Nigeria, consider the issue of reactivating free or subsidised treatment for skin cancer patients of persons with albinism in govt hospitals located in the six geopolitical zones of the country.

The association also expressed their concern about the issues of lack of employment for persons with albinism in some government offices.

In his remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the President thanked the AAN for the visit and the good job they are doing to better the lives of persons with albinism in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Presidential aide reiterated the passion and commitment of President Tinubu to accommodate and cater to every segment of the society under his inclusive governance initiative.

Hon. Abba Isa promised to forward the National Policy on Albinism to the President to ensure proper implementation.

He said he would ensure that the association is carried along in every activities of his office.
