By Lanre Oloyede

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon Mohammed Abba Isa, Monday received in audience members and executives of National Civil Service Association of Persons with Disabilities and National Association of Civil Servants with Disabilities of Nigeria who paid him a solidarity and congratulatory visit in his office.

Led by their National President, Barr. Ikem Uchegbulam, and National Chairman Mr Emeka Goodluck respectively, the groups came on a solidarity visit to congratulate the presidential aide on his appointment and to align themselves with his mandate of office and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on behalf of other members of the groups, the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the leadership role the SSAP has been playing to steer the ship of the disability community in Nigeria in the right direction since assuming office.

In his address, Hon. Abba Isa expressed gratitude and commended the groups for their solidarity and support.

The senior presidential aide, in his bid to foster unity and harmony amongst members of the disability community, used the occasion to mediate and reconcile the disputing factions of the association while urging them to work together in unity.

The SSAP then yielded the floor to aggreaved members to bear their minds on the cause of dispute.

According to the members who spoke, one of the bone of contentions is the expiration of the tenure of the present Excos and failure to hold Congress or conduct new elections.

Having listened to all the parties involved in the melee, the SSA in his wisdom appealed to them to sheathe their swords and work together in the interest of the general good of all members and disability community at large.

The two leaders agreed with the position of the presidential aide.

Among resolutions reached was that a committee be set up consisting of members from both factions to conduct an elective congress where new leadership will emerge.
