The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Special Needs and Equal Opportunities, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, joined His Excellency President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and other top government officials at the maiden edition of the Progressive Digital Media Summit, a landmark event held in Abuja to drive conversations around the future of digital communication in governance.

The summit, a bold initiative of the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Mr. Dada Olusegun, brought together senior government officials, media experts, and a dynamic network of digital communicators from across Nigeria to explore how digital platforms can be harnessed to deepen democracy, promote accountability, and foster national development.

President Tinubu delivered a powerful keynote address, urging stakeholders to utilize digital media as a force for unity, transparency, and progress. He emphasized that in today’s world, digital tools are essential not just for information dissemination but also for inclusive governance.

Hon. Abba Isa echoed the President’s vision, emphasizing the critical importance of digital inclusion for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). “Digital platforms have the power to uplift PWDs by amplifying their voices, promoting accessible content, and opening doors to education, employment, and advocacy,” he said.

He noted that the summit sparked fresh and forward-looking conversations on accessible technology, digital equity, and the fight against online misinformation—especially content that marginalizes vulnerable communities.

“From embracing tech innovations to countering narratives that exclude, this summit reminds us of our shared duty to ensure that Nigeria’s digital future is inclusive and empowering for all,” he stated.

Also present at the high-level gathering were the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; Mr. Seyi Tinubu; the Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga; and other senior government officials and digital stakeholders.

The summit, aligned with the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, marks a significant milestone in the evolution of Nigeria’s digital governance strategy.

Hon. Abba Isa commended the organizers for curating a timely and impactful event and reaffirmed his commitment to building a Nigeria where no one—especially those with disabilities—is left behind in the digital revolution.
